How Many Home Gyms Were Born During Covid Lockdown?
Since we have not been able to visit our gyms or meet with our trainers during this pandemic, has everyone learned to exercise on their own?
Some people are binge watching HULU and snacking beyond belief. Others are using the time to set up healthy habits such as taking a daily walk. Some, who crave cardio work outs and have to lift really heavy things, have had to curate an at-home gym.
Peloton could not be more pleased. Sales of home gym equipment are up as people bring their work out into their homes. Full body workout machines such as Bow Flex can be the centerpiece of a workout. A set of free weights and a bench can provide a great, classic work out as well.
With habits that have had to change, will this be similar to when the grocery stores went on strike and everyone began shopping at Trader Joe’s, Sprouts, and local small grocery shops? Many habits were broken then as shoppers learned to make new routines and discover new products at the same time.
Might exercisers choose not to return to the health clubs and learning to deal with new safety and health protocols? If masks are required while working out, that may not appeal to some members. Certainly features such as saunas, massage, and swimming cannot always be re-created in the home and members may continue to attend for those services.
In the meantime, while we are in pandemic lock down, take care of yourself and your family and be firm in the thought that this too shall pass. Jump rope anyone?
