Established in 1954, Bar Esperia was the first family bakery founded by Dario Vullo’s grandfather in Sicily.

From Sicily through Northern and Central Italy, the Vullo family manifested their start in the food and restaurant business first with generations of the family bringing love and passion to their local cuisine.

Chef Alessio parachuted himself into the Chicago food scene about 12 years ago by joining his brother Dario in the first US venture, creating the original Nando Milano Trattoria in the neighborhood of Wicker Park.

We believe in the inherent quality and freshness of local ingredients. We work with sustainable farms, utilize prime meat cuts, and purchase predominantly from organic farmers to allow for the most genuine flavors in our cuisine.

Originally coming from a coastal town in southern Italy the Vullo family has made their way to Manhattan Beach, a city that carries the familiar coastal feeling they love. Nando is excited to be transporting guests to Italy through the real taste of Italia!

Dario Vullo is here now in the States intent on sharing the great traditions of food in Italy with the help of his wife and co-owner, Amy Yetasook.
