Initially perceived as a concept to promote green initiatives, Project 821 has now become a reality, showcasing the feasibility of hydrogen-powered propulsion on a grand scale. The vessel’s impressive length and hydrogen-based energy system highlight Feadship’s commitment to sustainable innovation in the realm of superyachts. The seamless integration of clean energy solutions is a testament to the progress made in achieving emission-free voyages across the seas.
Overcoming the challenge of hydrogen storage, Project 821 features a specialized 13.12-foot supercooled tank designed to safely contain the volatile gas. Through a catalytic process, the stored hydrogen is converted into electricity and steam, generating a total energy capacity of approximately 543 kWh. The advanced heat recycling system harnesses excess heat from the fuel cells to warm amenities such as the jacuzzi, pool, steam room, and bathroom spaces, ensuring optimal comfort for passengers on board.
